The maker of Rippl-TV media player are back with Rippl-TV V2 featuring Amlogic S905 quad core Cortex A53 processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB flash, but the most interesting part of this device is probably on the software side with support for two launchers: Rippl-TV and an Android TV-like launcher, as well as support for Winevine L1 DRM allowing for HD playback of online video services such as Netflix, and Google Cast. [Update: While the company confirmed support for L1 DRM, a trusted third party has claimed that L1 DRM is currently buggy on Amlogic S905… Update 2: The company replied and there’s still a bug with Netflix TV app]

Rippl-TV V2 is available now on Amazon US for $89.99 [Update: using GMPZT37L coupon will reduce the price by $8.88]. You would have expected to find more details on Rippl-TV.com, as well as some support, but all information is about the older player, and the support forum is not working, so you’d better go to their Facebook page instead if you have questions.

android tv launcher is called Leanback 🙂
Wonder if the Rippl-TV launcher is still based on Kodi (formely XBMC)?
And I think that company behind Rippl-TV is a one-person show, or?
It’s promoted by Shenzhen Tomato, but I’m not sure who is behind the firmware.
Rippl-TV V2 have 2 X Intergrated Launchers, One is AndroidTV Launcher, one is Rippl-TV player. And The Rippl-TV player is one of the most widely used pieces of software in the world built with historic XBMC/KODI ecosystem, making it fully compatible with all add-ons and services. The Rippl-TV Player stands out because it is fully integrated into the operating system. It is a match made in heaven-the way the developers tuned the player into a full-fledged optional launcher that flows with Lollipop Android as if it was the main interface. It has option of being a launcher to go directly into after boot or used as an App. Android System and player settings, Android and KODI add-ons, emulators and android App can all be launched inside the Rippl-TV player. It is playback compatibilities include all the things required for the future of media including HEVC 4K2K@60fps, making it perfect for the new HDMI2.0 port in the V2 hardware.
And have professional team to support Rippl-TV V2.
RIPPL-TV V2 did a great improvement and upgrading based on the V1. The new V2 is more easier to use, no need to learn more. 2x launchers are TV-friendly. The Rippl-TV Player can be as one launcher built with Android System and player settings, Android and XBMC/KODI add-ons, emulators and android App.
And another AndroidTV launched integrated Google Cast.
Rippl TV V2 team members are from USA and China.
Interesting, thanks 🙂
Why only 1GB RAM…instant fail 🙁
Yes, 1GB RAM is poor. What about HD-Audio, did it support it through HDMI? This is important for many users.
What is “Winevine L1 DRM”?!
Thats the drm needed for netflix app and some other on demand apps. 1GB for 90$… wow just wow…
Ripple-TV V2, All HD works in youtube, all DRM on google services and Neflix etc.
More details about DRM:
Seems so in the video preview – looks like it runs pretty good for 1GB.
We work together with Rippl-TV to make it to the best Android TV-Box on the market. You now can get Rippl-TV V2 from here:
“Currently unavailable.” on Amazon… I wonder why they stopped selling it on Amazon.
They work on an Firmwareupgrade to solve some small bugs, we sell it with this bugs and deliver to our customer later the upgrade for the new firmware, we also integrated some features for the Europeen market.
I never will buy again a Rippl-TV: no support at all!
I have a V1 and I enjoyed it a little: but no support, FB page disappered, no reply to mail, NO FIRMWARE UPGRADE!
Unless you want buy a V1, V2,V3 every year…. this product is useless!
Other brands have forum, support, regular firmware updates….
