Industio 7-inch smart display features SigmaStar SSD201 SoM, WiFi and Ethernet

We previously covered the $10 Industio IDO-SOM2D01 module based on SigmaStar SSD201 Cortex-A7 processor with 64MB RAM built-in, 128MB SPI NOR flash, and designed for full HD smart displays.

Today I learned Industio was the design team of system-on-module for Wireless Tag, and the latter is the only distributor of Industio branded products. The company also informed us about Industio IDO-SBC2D70 7-inch smart display based on the aforementioned SSD201 or SSD202 module and connected over Ethernet or WiFi.

SSD201 smart display board

The very little information about software, except the board/display runs Linux. We obtained the information from Wireless Tag by email, so there’s no product page yet, but I can see the smart display is sold on Aliexpress for $91.19 plus shipping, probably in the default configuration. Wireless Tag also sells the module only on Alibaba for just $7.90 to $8.80.

The Aliexpress shop has some interesting details about support:

For the development board, core board and chip related information, please contact customer service directly! Except for the chip SDKHDK, which needs to sign an NDA, other information can be opened!

That probably means the Linux SDK and resources related to the hardware development kit from SigmaStar both require users to sign an NDA. Alternatively, linux-chenxing website gathers information and public Github repos with SigmaStar source code.

  1. Some support for the SSD202 might end up in Linux 5.11..

Aside from that the hardware is pretty much the same as the MSC313E on the BreadBee so ethernet, SD, USB etc also work and will eventually get mainlined.

The display and audio hardware are really killing me. Those are not in the kernel sources and are instead hidden in a HAL mega module. 🙁

  2. FWIW: Sigmastar have now opened an open platform. Apparently you need a Chinese phone number to register but they seem to be distributing some information in the open now instead of the smoke and mirrors scheme they had before; http://comake.online/
