Upcoming events about RISC-V, RT-Thread IoT OS, and Embedded Linux

Three events about open/open-source technologies have been recently announced with namely the RT-Thread IoT OS Tech Conference, the jointly organized Open Source Summit and Embedded Linux Conference 2021, and the 2021 RISC-V Summit. Let’s have a quick look at what each will have to offer with the list in chronological order.

The first-ever RT-Thread IoT OS Global Tech Conference will take place online on September 16–17,2021, be free to attend, and feature talks about embedded technologies, new projects showcase, community contributors track mostly related to RT-Thread open-source real-time operating system, but also IoT development in general.

The agenda has not been published just yet, as the call for speakers is still open until August 8th. People just wanting to attend can register through a Google Docs form. Somehow there’s no landing page on the main page, and instead, they’ve decided to publish information on Medium.

Embedded Linux Conference 2021

The Open Source Summit + Embedded Linux Conference 2021 will take place on September 27-30 and offer over 250 conference sessions covering Linux Systems, Dependability, AI & Data, DEI, Community Leadership & Management, IoT, Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Native Development, Databases, and Embedded Linux.

The agenda got published a few days ago, with some Embedded-related sessions including:

  • Introduction to pin muxing and GPIO control under Linux – Neil Armstrong, BayLibre
  • Using OP-TEE as a Cryptography Engine – Gregory Malysa, Timesys
  • Advanced Camera Support on Allwinner SoCs with Mainline Linux – Paul Kocialkowski, Bootlin
  • Board Farm APIs for Automated Testing of Embedded Linux – An Update – Tim Bird, Sony Electronics & Harish Bansal, Timesys
  • The Future of Linux on RISC-V – Drew Fustini, Embedded Linux Developer
  • BoF: Linux on Smartphones – Bernhard “bero” Rosenkränzer, LinDev / Huawei
  • and many more

This will be a hybrid event happening on-site for $1000  and up for professionals, or $275 for students, hobbyists, and academics, and online for $50. You can register now on the Linux Foundation website.

2021 RISC-V Summit

2021 RISC-V Summit

RISC-V International has just announced the hybrid 2021 RISC-V Summit will be co-located with the 58th Design Automation Conference (DAC) at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from Monday, December 6 to Wednesday, December 8 with an option to attend in-person and/or virtually.

You’ll get the latest updates on RISC-V technology advancements and implementations in artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, internet of things (IoT), security, cloud, high-performance computing (HPC), and more. But at this time, the list of sessions has not been released yet.

Calls for proposals are open until September 10, and you can submit yours on the Linux Foundation website. If you just intend to attend, registration is open for $199 for professionals and $49 for academics if attending on-site, or $99/free for online attendance. Complimentary registrations are offered to members of the press.

Mhmm, Linux conference virtual 50 USD. What is included in that? Is there some kind of chat or how does it look like? I mean the videos are also getting uploaded to Youtube. So… is it worth it?
