XGO 2 – A Raspberry Pi CM4 based robot dog with an arm (Crowdfunding)

XGO 2 is a desktop robot dog using the Raspberry Pi CM4 as its brain, the ESP32 as the motor controller for the four legs and an additional robotic arm that allows the quadruped robot to grab objects.

An evolution of the XGO mini robot dog with a Kendryte K210 RISC-V AI processor, the XGO 2 robot offers 12 degrees of freedom and the more powerful Raspberry CM4 model enables faster AI edge computing applications, as well as features such as omnidirectional movement, six-dimensional posture control, posture stability, and multiple motion gaits.

Raspberry Pi CM4 Robot dog with Arm

The company also says the new robot can provide feedback on its own postures thanks to its 6-axis IMU and sensors for the joints reporting the position and electric current. A display and camera, plus built-in AI modules for visual recognition (QR codes, face, emotions), voice recognition, and gesture recognition allow the XGO 2 robot to hear, recognize, and respond to users in a way similar to what a real dog does.

The company has changed the way the robot is programmed moving away from the XGOEdu IDE to more standard programming languages such as Blockly and Python, while more advanced users can use Robot Operating System (ROS) packages for even finer controls. You’ll find more details in the Wiki. It’s also possible to replace the Raspberry Pi CM4 module with BBC Micro:bit or ELECFREAKS Pico:ed board if you wish to do so.

Robot dog grabs object

XGO 2 has just launched on Kickstarter with a $20,000 funding target that has been reached in just 15 minutes. Rewards start at $449 for the XGO-Lite 2 and $749 for the XGO-Mini 2 Raspberry Pi CM4 robot dog. Shipping adds $10 to $50 depending on the destination country, and it’s more like a pre-order as the robot dogs are expected to ship by April 2023, or about a month after the crowdfunding campaign is over.

With the Pi shortages, anyone know of a Zero-like board that can also run a Debian/Raspbian like OS? I’m interested in running Flutter.

Lemme know by email when you built xgo 3 with self charging platform or/and second thing, code is open source? Can I make modification which do that? If yes I’ll buy it emmidietly. Just give me link to shop. Couldn’t find it in that robostore which is your official developer yet.
