ASUS ROG USB-BE92 is a USB 3.2 Gen1 WiFi 7 BE6500 adapter

The ASUS ROG USB-BE92 is a USB 3.2 Gen1-based WiFi 7 adapter that supports IEEE 802.11a/b/n/ac/ax/be standards. It operates in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, with dual internal antennas for improved signal reception. The device is designed for high-throughput wireless performance in BE6500 networks, supporting MU-MIMO technology. Primarily targeted for Windows 10 and 11 platforms, it enables next-generation wireless connectivity when paired with WiFi 7 routers and compatible client devices.

We previously discussed several WiFi 7 modules, SBCs, and chipsets including Compex WLE7002E25, 8Devices Noni, Banana Pi BPI-R4, Fibocom FG370, and MediaTek’s Filogic 860 and Filogic 360. These modules offer different features and performance levels, so I recommend checking them out if you’re interested in WiFi 7 technology. The ASUS ROC USB-BE92 is one of the first WiFi 7 USB dongles that made it to market.

Despite its gaming appearance, it is a simple and versatile USB WiFi 7 adapter suitable for any user. So far, at least three companies have announced plans to release USB dongles that provide a plug-and-play solution for adding WiFi 7 to PCs or other hosts with a spare USB 3.2 port. TP-Link first introduced the Archer TBE400UH at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2024. This summer, MSI followed with its own BE6500 WiFi 7 dongle. Now, ASUS has joined them with the introduction of its ROG USB-BE92 dongle.

The company hasn’t shared specific availability or pricing details yet, but they have stated that it will be available later this year. More information about the ASUS ROG-USB-BE92 can be found on the product page.

  1. Afaik we haven’t heard what chipset any of these devices are using. It feels like a <50% chance it'll be someone who has any Linux support (MediaTek, maybe maybe Qualcomm if we're lucky).

  2. There are loads on ”BE6500” USB Wi-Fi 7 adapters on Aliexpress, wondering what chips they are using and if they work as well?
