The metaio Mobile SDK brings with it patented gravity-awareness and visual tracking technology for 2D and 3D objects, now three times more robust than the previous version. These features combined will ensure AR experiences that are more natural, more intuitive, and more realistic, says the company.
Metaio recently announced formal collaborations with ARM, ST-Ericsson and Texas Instruments to fully take advantage of the GPU hardware provided by those companies and the Mobile SDK is optimized for ARM Mali GPU (both graphics and compute), ST Ericsson Nova and NovaThor mobile processors and TI OMAP processors.
The metaio Mobile SDK also includes its own 3D rendering engine – now with advanced shader support – and a plugin to make use of Unity3D (3D game engine).

The free Mobile SDK 3.0 is available for download at http://www.metaio.com/software/mobile-sdk/
Metaio will also release a Pro version of the mobile SDK (19.900€) within the next months which will include additional advanced features (e.g. Markerless 3D Object Tracking and Image Classifier / Client-based Visual Search), greater customization potential and direct support by the metaio development team.
Users of the free version can get support on the Developer Forum. Users of the pro version will also be able to get personalized support via email and phone, and will be illegible for training sessions.
Developers that developed professional AR applications using the metaio Mobile SDK can register to become Certified Developers, giving them direct access to business offers and opportunities through the metaio network.
