Qualcomm 215 64-bit SoC Targets Entry-level Smartphones

Qualcomm Technologies has recently announced the Qualcomm 215 Mobile Platform quad core Cortex-A53 processor with a dual ISP for entry-level smartphones.

Compared to the Snapdragon 212 quad core Cortex-7 32-bit processor, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 64-bit processor offers a 50% increase in CPU performance, and up to 28% increased gaming performance thanks to its Adreno 308 GPU. It also adds an Hexagon DSP for low power audio and sensor processing which allows up to 5 days of audio playback.

Adreno 300, CA53, LPDDR3 controller, 28nm — an extremely cost-sensitive part. A frontal attack at entry-level Chinese vendors?

Probably yes a64 is an old tablet soc.
No clue y Qualcomm is coming now with such an outdated piece of soc… At leadt 14nm would have made sense for longer batt runtime or smaller required battery. whatever, if engineers would understand business cases we would all be executive bullshit bingo players instead.

Interestingly a redmi go for 50 to 60 bucks still prefers a SD 415. Not sureif price is all in this low end segment. I thought it completely belonged to MTK anyway.

Will they pair it with 2GB of memory or just 1 like most makers did with the 410. And then they claimed that there was too little memory to run it in 64bit mode. Which means that claimed performance increase over the A7 pretty much vanishes.
