There’s been a fair amount of leaks related to Xiaomi Mi TV Stick around the web for the last few months, but the company has now finally launched their Android TV TV stick with a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and 8GB storage.
While there were rumors about a 4K version, Xiaomi Mi TV Stick only outputs up to 1080p60, and since it runs the official Android TV OS, supports Chromecast and Google Assistant out of the box. Official Price: 39.99 Euros. But you can get it on Aliexpress for as low as $29.99 with coupon 715MITVSTICK.

will it allow 1080p Netflix playback? Cause most Chinese devices don’t
It’s a certified device, so 1080p Netflix should be supported.
Theorically The cpu of this dongle supports 4k , but if you want 4k from netflix the constructors must pay. So some people suppose that this 1080p is a choice due to the Netflix certification.
So it means that it will be probably easy to make 1080p for this dongle.
I think S805Y processor is limited to 1080p, there’s no 4K capable VPU. They’ve have to go with S905Y or another one of the S905? processor to get 4K.
The 4k version is said to be s905Y2
Is this device similar to the fire stick
I reckon that most people looking for a stick based solution will more likely go for an Amazon Fire TV stick.
Whilst Xiaomi might be a recognised name of sorts for enthusiasts, most of the world (outside of China) will never have heard of them.
There is nothing here that really makes the knees wobble and wallet open.
