If like me, you had never heard about COM-HPC, it’s a new standard that stands for “Computer-On-Module for High-Performance Computing” that supports up to 512GB RAM, 64 general-purpose PCIe lanes, and 1 dedicated PCIe lane for connecting to the IPMI BMC on the carrier, a maximum of four USB 4 ports, and up to eight 10 GbE ports. It was designed for processors with up to 150W TDP, so it’s interesting to see a 12W-28W processor here. There are different sizes for COM-HPC modules with larger “server” modules, and more compact “client” modules as offered by Congatec here.

When wrote about Tiger Lake processor, I did not realize this may be one of the first low-power processor family to support 8Kp60 video output, as well as USB 4.0. The company also says the USB DP-Alt mode supporting video signals of up to 8k resolution with 10-bit HDR at 60 Hz.

Congatec will provide board support packages for Linux, Windows, and ChromeOS, as well as hypervisor support from RealTime Systems. The conga-HPC/cTLU and conga-TC570 Tiger Lake computers-on-module will become available with the 11th Gen Intel Core processors. More details can be found in the respective product pages here and there.
