SolidRun i.MX 8XLite SoM embeds DSRC modem, GPS for V2X automotive applications

The GPU-less NXP i.MX 8XLite Cortex-A35/M4 SoC was just announced earlier this month for V2X and IIoT applications, and now SolidRun unveiled the first module based on the new processor with the “i.MX 8XLite System-on-Module”.

Also equipped with a RoadLINK SAF5400 safety modem, SolidRun’s Mini SoM targets vehicle telematics, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications, road infrastructure connectivity, and industrial equipment.

While many of the features are designed for V2X and the automotive market in general, the SoM is also well suited for industrial IoT, building control, and robotics applications with features such as time-sensitive networking (TSN) Ethernet or controller area network (CAN) connectivity.

SolidRun should provide Linux BSPs based on the Yocto Project and Buildroot, and is currently developing the HummingBoard i.MX 8XLite carrier board with 100BASE-T1 automotive Ethernet, USB 2.0 ports, and UART, SPI, SDIO, and 12C and I/O pins, and that will be part of the i.MX 8XLite Starter Kit used for both evaluation and application development purposes.

SolidRun i.MX 8XLite micro SoM is not available yet, which explains the render, and the processor is still at the pre-production stage, so may take a few months or quarters before availability. Additional information may be found on the press release or product page.
