SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM is powered by Renesas RZ/G2LC processor for AI-enhanced HMI applications

SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM is a system-on-module based on Renesas RZ/G2LC single or dual-core Cortex-A55/M33 processor and designed for AI-enhanced human-machine-interface (HMI) applications, industrial and building automation, video surveillance, IoT, etc…

The module is also equipped with 1GB DDR4 RAM, 8GB eMMC flash, and a wireless module with dual-band WiFi 4 and with Bluetooth 4.2 all packed into a tiny footprint measuring just 47 x 30mm that makes it suitable for space-constrained devices such as video doorbells and compact IP cameras.

SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM specifications:

  • SoC – Renesas RZ/G2LC single or dual-core Arm Cortex-A55 processor @ up to 1.2 GHz with, 1x Cortex-M33 real-time core, Arm Mali-G31 GPU, H.264 video decoder
  • System Memory – 1GB DDR4 with inline ECC (up to 2GB)
  • Storage – 8GB eMMC flash (up to 64GB), QSPI
  • Networking
    • Wired – Analog Devices ADIN1200 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PHY (CNXSoft remark: As shown in the block diagram below, but that’s an odd choice because all Renesas RZ/G2L processors support Gigabit Ethernet)
    • Wireless – 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi 4 and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless module with u.FL antenna connector
  • 3x high-density Hirose DF40 board-to-board connectors with
    • Storage I/F – Up to 2x SD/MMC (Note WiFi uses one SDIO if populated)
    • Display I/F – 1x MIPI DSI
    • Camera I/F – 1x MIPI CSI-2
    • Audio – 1x Digital audio serial interface
    • Networking – 10/100Mbps Ethernet
    • USB – 2x USB 2.0 host port
    • 2x CAN Bus
    • Low-speed I/Os – 3x I2C, 2x SPI, 3x UART, GPIO, PWM
    • Debugging – JTAG test point header
  • Supply Voltages
    • Main Voltage – 5V
    • I/O Voltage – 3.3V
  • Dimensions – 47 x 30 mm
  • Temperature Range –  Commercial: 0°C to 70°C; industrial: -40°C to 85°C
  • Humidity (non-condensing) – 10% – 90%

SolidRun will offer long-term Linux support through the Renesas CIP Linux distribution that gets updates for at least 10 years once a processor is released. SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM is pin-to-pin compatible with the company’s NXP i.MX8 Mini SOM so customers can switch between the two as needed for a specific application, and the new SoM also works with the Hummingboard Pulse carrier board. An RZ/G2LC Starter Kit is also in the works, but no details are available at this time.

SolidRun RZ/G2LC SOM is available today for $67 USD and up depending on configuration and volume. Visit the product page for more details.

That is likely based on this device support for 10BASE-T1L which allows for a single pair to provide both power and data.
