$55 Watchy Smartwatch Combines ESP32 WiFi & Bluetooth SoC with E-ink Display

Watchy ESP32 E-ink Smartwatch

SQFMI has designed a (mostly) open-source hardware smartwatch based on an ESP32-S wireless module for WiFI and Bluetooth connectivity, and equipped with an E-ink display of 200×200 resolution. Watchy also comes with a BMA423 accelerometer, four buttons, a DS3231 real-time clock, and a vibration motor. The watch should last around 2 weeks on a charge. I mentioned the watch is “mostly” open source hardware because while the GERBER files, bill of materials (BoM) and the PDF schematics have been released on Github, the KiCAD schematics and PCB layout files have not so far. That still means you can understand the design, repair the design, or even make your own, but if you intended in modifying the design, you’d have some more work to do. Tom Fleet, writing for Hackster.io, does go through different sections of the schematics and explain what they do. One the software side, the watch can be […]

VOIXATCH Smartwatch Comes with a Detachable Bluetooth Headset (Crowdfunding)

Voixatch smartwatch

As a Kickstarter project, VOIXATCH introduces the world’s first smartwatch device which puts essential features of all the devices we carry with us in one unit. This watch does everything that smartwatches do, plus it has a built-in Bluetooth headset. Other smartwatches can be used with Bluetooth headset, but VOIXATCH has a Bluetooth ring-look-like headset docked on it, and the headset can be detached anytime and used for phone calls or listening to the music. One can call it a headset smartwatch. Cool, huh? After Mobile World Congress 2019, where Voixatch demonstrated the watch, it is finally available for “purchase” on Kickstarter rewards starting at $179 and first batch delivery expected in June. VOIXATCH embodies LTE, GPS connectivity in an all-in-one truly wireless design that can be used with Google Voice. The watch can also be used as a cellular smartwatch with a bezel headset to make calls and stay […]

Buy Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2

Powered by Snapdragon XR1 processor, Google Glass Enterprise Edition v2  has launched in May 2019, but at the time you had to contact Google Glass sales team or distributors to source one or more samples for your application, and there was no easy way to purchase the glasses online. But things have changed as the company realized they should make it easier for developers to build apps for the platform, and Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 can now be purchased for around $1,060 from resellers such as Mobile Advance or SHI. At that price, it does not come with the “Titanium band” that appears required to make sure the glasses stay in place. So the price goes up to $1,195 (or $136 extra) if you want the Glass Enterprise Edition 2 Developer Kit with both the glass pod and the titanium band. This is not meant as a consumer device […]

V-Powerbuds Pro TWS Earbuds Support Heart Monitoring & Oxygen Tracking (Crowdfunding)

Vimai V-Powerbuds Pro Multi-function Sport Earbuds Vimai’s V-Powerbuds Pro TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds are multi-function wireless earbuds. In the past, we had reported on the Misfit Specter Bluetooth earbuds that could track fitness input, such as steps, calories, and sleep duration. V-Powerbuds Pro also tracks heart rate, oxygen, and respiration, and supports online & offline voice control. The Component Basics The V-Powerbud Pro are TWS earbuds and have a built-in pulse oximeter to capture heart rate and oxygen levels right from within the ear. Energous Launches WattUp Smart Glasses Developer Kit for Customer Product Designs

The WattUp Smart Glasses Developer Kit

Near-field wireless charging technology has the potential to disrupt the consumer electronics industry, but its adoption has been limited. Energous wireless charging technology WattUp has promised to change that narrative by making it possible to charge devices mid-field (on the desk) or far off (in the room. Aside from the distance challenge in wireless charging, one other major issue is the fact that there are few deployments with them. Only a few devices have wireless charging incorporated. Energous is hoping to change that as well with the launch of the WattUp Smart Glasses Developer Kit, which is tailored for custom product design in the wearable industry. Energous is continuing its trend of launching a developer kit after having released the WattUp Hearables Developer Kit with Near-Field Wireless Charging and support for the SKIIN Smart Underwears. According to the Energous, the goal of the smart glasses developer kit is: Designed to […]
