CWWK NAS mini-ITX motherboard features six SATA connectors, three 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports

In our last post, we wrote about the CWWK X86-P1 which is a fanless SBC and mini PC that goes for $101 and up, but while writing another product that got my attention was the CWWK NAS motherboard which is built around the Intel Celeron J Series SoC and features six SATA connectors and three 2.5GbE network ports, two of which are connected to Intel i226-V controllers and the other one to a Realtek RTL8125BG controller. The board also has support for dual 2280 M.2 NVMe SSDs and DDR4 memory. Other than that, it has HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 2.0, 3.0, PCIe, and audio output ports.

The board is available in two variants, one with a J6412 SoC and the other with a J6413 SoC other than that it features six SATA ports, five of which are expanded using the JMB585 chip, while the SATA1 port comes from the native interface. That’s all the positive aspects of the board. The downside is that I couldn’t find any official listing for this board on the CWWK website during my search. Additionally, there is no information about supported operating systems or other technical documentation.

However, after some searching, I found a Reddit thread where users with this motherboard shared their opinions. One user mentioned that they were using Docker with Plex and Home Assistant with three 12TB IronWolf HDDs for the array without any issues so far. The setup was consuming 38W at idle (with peaks around 55W). Some users suggested that they were using a 10GbE NIC with this board without any issues. Such 10GbE NICs can be found on Amazon for $80 or less.

It looks like it is a PCIe gen 3 x1 connector which tops at 985 Mo/s. It will not reach 10 Gbit/s.

You’d be surprised how many people don’t know 8bit=1Byte so 10Gb/s = 1250MB/s.

I have one of these boards. I run proxmox. The nvme ports are 1x. If you use the pcie slot, you lose a nvme slot. Good board however, jellyfin uses igpu for transcoding quite well.
