Hisense A5 was one of the first phones exclusively equipped with an e-Paper display. But following the launch of color E-Ink displays and color eReaders from other companies last year, the Chinese company has now launched Hisense A7CC 5G smartphone with a 6.7-inch color E-Ink display.
The phone is powered by UNISOC T7510 octa-core processor, which appears to be based on T710 SoC with 5G modem, and comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB flash storage.

Hisense A7CC runs Android 10 with a custom UI, and it will certainly be great to read e-Books, and browse the web with text possibly sharper, but images will look a bit dull with only 4096 colors, and due to the rather slow refresh rate, most people will avoid gaming and watching videos on the device. There’s no information about battery life that I could find, but the phone should probably last around a week or so on a charge depending on usage.
The 6.7-inch color E-Ink smartphone sells for 2,399 CNY (~$370 US) on JD.com, which as pointed out by Liliputing does not cost that much more than color eReaders such as the $299 Onyx Boox Poke2 Color eReader with a6-inch display.

Make that waterproof then i would go to places with no charging possibility for a week.
Places with no charging possibilities have most likely no network coverage too. So taking a eBook reader might just be sufficient then 😉
Plenty of people prefer a 1 week charge over losing video gaming and/or video viewing.
So buy a feature phone like Nokia, you will get a week on battery.
Device seems to be very interesting, but I find somehow funny to read about cameras – with 100 dpi 4096 colour display, which has a slow refresh rate, making photos will be a bizarre experience. Not to mention any attempts to record a video 😉 I’m not sure if that was deeply and well thought out. I would love to see the results 😉
If the software side for the display is good (ie. correct dithering/interpolation/etc), I don’t see this as much of a handicap… on the contrary, a battery good for a week sound daaaaamn fine!!
